Mike and Marnie have a passion for providing quality care for the elderly, in a residential family setting. Marnie has over 30 years experience working with seniors in nursing home, hospital, and residential settings. She holds a current RN license.
Mike was formerly employed in the 'corporate world', until 2005. While visiting a local nursing home, he was saddened by how the residents were corralled into a building, just sitting around in their wheelchairs. Later, while talking to their Pastor and his wife, they discovered the concept of "Adult Foster Care (AFC)". Upon deciding this was something that would be meaningful for them and the community, they pursued their license with Sherburne County.
After providing foster care services for 15 years in Zimmerman, the couple had a vision to move to an improved setting that would provide a phenomenal experience for their residents. In 2020, the entire household moved to a beautiful home on the eastern shore of Big lake, where the residents are able to better access the lake and enjoy a stroll through the neighborhood.

At The Lake Adult Care received the "Adult Foster Care Provider of the Year" award for Sherburne County in 2009. They went on to receive the "Outstanding Adult Foster Care Provider" award for Region VII of the Minnesota Social Service Association, for 2009. "It has truly been an honor serving our seniors and their families throughout the years!"
